Patina Vie pushes “cool vibe” into new soft home categories

Patina Vie often sets its own design guidelines, and this season is no exception.

The brand, which is co-owned and run by visionaries and industry veterans Sarah Willett and Susan D’Arcy, is growing its line of products for wholesale and mass retail. New categories are scheduled to debut at the New York Home Fashions Market in partnership with licensee Burano Home Collective.

Patina Vie is in her third market with Burano, a New Hampshire-based, three-generation home textiles firm that was once known as Great Bay Home. Its showroom may be found at 230 Fifth Ave., Suite 501.

According to D’Arcy, the collaboration began in 2022 with branded blankets, sheet sets, accent rugs, and quilts “of many different styles,” such as printed, natural fiber, anti-fatigue, and others.

New to the lineup are place mats, kitchen towels, water-wicking drying mats, and new rug patterns – all in trendy styles – as well as extended options of sheet sets made of cotton, microfiber, flannel and bamboo as well as new quilts and coverlets.

But D’Arcy emphasized, don’t search for trendy themes. Patina Vie’s bespoke design is “full eclectic” with countless patterns ideal for mixing and matching under the brand’s characteristic palette.

“We set the trends, not adhere to them. We operate in that manner, D’Arcy stated. That implies geometrics and flowers, among other styles. We don’t stick to a formula; instead, we fluctuate between striking hues and softer, more ocular-friendly hues. We fluctuate based on our emotions and actions.

She gave several examples, such as a line of vibrantly colored throws and pillows for the brand’s upscale clientele and “Patina Vie Bespoke” shop, which “have been a huge success, selling extremely well.”

She went on, “We can align them in color so that we may place a flower, a geometric, and a damask in the same area together. Our collections, which combine modern and vintage elements, are a reflection of our lives. No guidelines. Sarah and I prefer to work that way. With design, anything goes.

Patina Vie is entering into its second licensing agreement with Burano.

“After a few negative experiences, we decided to leave the licensing game and start our own wholesale company,” D’Arcy said. “Then, a few years ago, when attending Heimtextil, I ran across Mark O’Neil, co-owner of Burano Home Collective, who I’ve known for a very long time. After some conversation, we decided to test our alliance.

After around 18 months of collaboration, the Patina Vie team creates all of the product concepts, which Burano then uses its international sourcing partners to turn into trendy home textile collections.

She went on, “We create flow, we sync.” “We design goods that, although not being exact mates, can coexist. Additionally, they are able to coexist in any setting.
