Sanderson, a traditional English home furnishings company known for providing fabric and wallpaper to the Royal Households, receives the Royal Warrant from His Majesty King Charles III. This momentous occasion commemorates the company’s first Royal Warrant to HM King George V, which was granted in 1924.

This revitalization is in line with the Royal Household’s concern on environmental sustainability and affirms  Sanderson’s historical past while looking to the future.
As a recipient of a Royal Warrant, Sanderson is dedicated to the highest environmental standards and procedures as well as design quality. To achieve carbon net zero by 2030, the team is dedicated to Sanderson’s Live Beautiful pledge. According to Planet Mark, Sanderson is currently in its sixth year of carbon reduction and on pace to meet its goal.

The CO2 emissions of the Sanderson Design Group, of which Sanderson is the founding brand, dropped by 40 percent during the previous five years and 10.4 percent in the 12 months ending January 31, 2024. Last year, warehouses cut their consumption of cardboard by 12% and plastic by 15%, putting the Group right on track for 2030.

In partnership with the RWHA Nature Recovery Group, Sanderson Design Group also keeps improving biodiversity through its locations. As part of its commitment to enhancing biodiversity and local wildlife, the Group is collaborating with The Wildlife Trusts on an outdoor project at Anstey Wallpaper Factory in Loughborough. The Coronation Gardens initiative will highlight this project.

In Lancaster, the Group’s print fabric maker, Standfast & Barracks, works with Hillier Nursery to carry out the Uncover Recover initiative. New habitats will be created by excavating a concrete area from this planting location. Additional pledges include the installation of bat boxes in Lancaster, bird boxes in Loughborough and Milton Keynes, and tree replanting in Chiswick House and Gardens.

“We are ecstatic to receive this Royal Warrant and particularly happy to commemorate 100 years of uninterrupted service to The Royal Household,” stated Lisa Montague, CEO of Sanderson Design Group. As a member of the Sanderson Design Group, Sanderson is dedicated to maintaining its heritage of British workmanship and design as well as its dedication to sustainability. The values of excellence that have guided our business for more than a century are reflected in these efforts. We are eager to preserve the principles that the Royal Warrant stands for and carry on decorating with the Royal Households.

In order to ensure that recipients maintain standards in their fields of expertise, the Royal Warrant, a distinguished mark of recognition for businesses providing goods or services to the Royal Household, is regularly evaluated for quality. Sanderson’s ongoing commitment to the greatest levels of quality, craftsmanship, and service is reflected in this revival. The fact that Sanderson has held a Royal Warrant for 100 years is evidence of its unwavering dedication to quality.

Arthur Sanderson founded the company in 1860 with the goal of bringing high-end French paper hangings to Britain. Since then, it has grown to become one of the most well-known interior design and decorating companies in the world. Sanderson has had a Royal Warrant since 1924 to provide the Royal Residences with wall coverings, paint, and textiles.

From importing to setting up printing facilities and purchasing companies, Sanderson’s distinguished past solidifies its position as the original brand at Sanderson Design Group, carrying on Arthur Sanderson’s legacy. A trailblazer in acquisitions, such as the 1940 purchase of Morris & Co., and a creator of exquisite designs, Sanderson sets the stage for a future that keeps pushing the limits of historical design.

Encapsulating its remarkable history and serving as a point of reference for its design studio today, its cherished archive contains an extensive collection of 19th-century fabrics, wallpapers, and printing blocks.

Sanderson, the home of classic florals and illustrative plants, is renowned for its outstanding quality, timeless appeal, and distinctively English taste. It provides exquisitely designed fabrics, wallcoverings, and trims for everyone. With layers of nostalgia, the brand never stops looking back to create outstanding designs that appeal to a discriminating worldwide clientele.
