LANXESS Achieves Gold Status in Sustainability

In the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe, LANXESS claimed the top spot in the “Chemicals” category, achieving an impressive 79 out of 100 points. On a global scale, the company secured 4th place in the DJSI World, excelling in key areas such as climate strategy, water management, corporate ethics, human rights, and product stewardship.

Further strengthening its sustainability credentials, MSCI ESG reaffirmed LANXESS’ AA rating for the fourth consecutive year. This places the company among the highest-rated firms in the Commodity & Diversified Chemicals industry, highlighting its effective management of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks.

In November, ISS ESG elevated LANXESS’ rating from B- to B, while maintaining its prestigious prime status. This distinction ranks LANXESS among the best-performing companies in the chemical sector, based on over 100 industry-specific sustainability indicators.

Additionally, LANXESS received a gold-level rating from EcoVadis, an accolade awarded to the top 5% of more than 100,000 evaluated companies worldwide. This recognition underscores LANXESS’ commitment to sustainability across its business operations and supply chain.

On the Path to Climate Neutrality

LANXESS is striving to achieve climate-neutral production and energy use by 2040 and aims to make its entire value chain climate-neutral by 2050. The company’s sustainability strategy aligns with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which supports global efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.
