As thousands of families recover from the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, essential home textiles such as bedding, sheets, and blankets are in high demand.
The wildfires, which started on January 7 and lasted for weeks, scorched over 38,000 acres, leaving 15,000+ homes and businesses damaged or destroyed. While apparel donations have been abundant, aid organizations are struggling to secure home textile donations for those in need.
How the Industry Can Help
Non-profit organization Delivering Good is working with apparel and home goods suppliers to collect excess inventory for donation. However, while apparel contributions have been plentiful, donations from the home textiles sector remain insufficient.
“Anything that you have, any old inventory, you will get the full tax credit at whatever you value it,” said David Greenstein, President of Taram Textiles and board member of Delivering Good.
Support & Distribution Efforts
Delivering Good is partnering with local relief organizations to distribute donated goods, including:
✅ Hearts of Compassion
✅ Epidaurus Amity Foundation of California
✅ Measure of Hearts
✅ Child Care Resource Center
✅ World Vision, 4 Good Community, Santa Claus, Baby2Baby, and more
The organization has also set up a California Wildfire Relief resource page, where donors and volunteers can find distribution points, timelines, and additional support updates.
