Textiles Recycling Expo Debuts Successfully in Brussels, Sets Industry Milestone

The inaugural Textiles Recycling Expo, held on 4–5 June 2025 in Brussels, marked a major milestone for the circular textile industry, drawing wide acclaim for its scale, participation, and forward-thinking agenda. Positioned as the largest international event dedicated solely to textile recycling, the expo brought together 126 exhibitors and 3,336 visitors from 67 countries, making it a historic gathering for the sector.

Participants spanned the entire textile value chain—from global waste management leaders and trailblazing recyclers to apparel producers, fashion houses, and sustainability teams from retail giants such as H&M, Nike, Zara, Burberry, Uniqlo, Gucci, Chanel, Decathlon, Puma, Patagonia, Primark, and many more. A notable 12% of attendees traveled from Africa, Asia, and the Americas, underlining the global relevance of textile recycling initiatives.

In his keynote, Aurel Ciobanu-Dordea, Director for Circular Economy at the European Commission, praised the vibrant atmosphere and showcased technologies, noting the expo’s role in advancing circular economy goals. Industry voices across LinkedIn echoed similar sentiments, calling the event “a breakthrough week for circular fashion” and “an energizing, impactful experience.”

The expo served as a dynamic platform to showcase cutting-edge recycling technologies, including live demonstrations by Valvan and NewRetex, while more than 50 experts spoke on emerging regulations, innovations, and actionable solutions to improve textile waste recovery.

Backed by leading organizations such as EURATEX, ReHubs, EuRIC, Accelerating Circularity, Fedustria, and the Textile Recycling Association, the event’s Industry Alliance Hub fostered vibrant discussions and potential collaborations.

Event Manager Zied Chetoui expressed enthusiasm over the strong turnout and positive feedback:

“The industry’s commitment to innovation and sustainability was clearly visible. This first edition sets a strong foundation for shaping the future of textile recycling.”

The expo’s debut has catalyzed new partnerships, raised awareness, and accelerated momentum toward a sustainable textile future. The next European edition returns to Brussels on 24–25 June 2026, while a North American edition debuts in Charlotte, NC on 29–30 April 2026—with bookings already surging.
