Yarn Expo Autumn 2025 Returns to Shanghai with Focus on Sustainability, Functionality, and Global Textile Collaboration

The Yarn Expo Autumn 2025, Asia’s leading yarn and fibre sourcing platform, is set to take place from 2 – 4 September 2025 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, the event is expected to draw in international suppliers, buyers, and trendsetters from across the value chain.

At its previous edition, over 540 global exhibitors connected with nearly 22,000 professional buyers from 81 countries and regions, reinforcing Yarn Expo’s stature as a hub for upstream-downstream collaboration. Held alongside Intertextile Apparel, the 2025 edition will once again showcase a wide variety of sustainable and functional yarn and fibre innovations, supported by educational forums, trend zones, and networking opportunities.

Sustainability and Innovation: The Core of Industry Growth

Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, stated:

“Fostering innovation, sustainability and collaboration in the yarn and fibre sector is vital, since these elements play a crucial role in the sector’s advancement. We are highly committed to providing an international platform that supports industry growth, and meets the demands of today’s world, especially amid geoeconomic uncertainty. Yarn Expo is poised for continued success, backed by robust resources and a business-friendly reputation, and we look forward to celebrating new opportunities this autumn.”

Market Growth Aligned with Green Demand

Driven by population growth, urbanisation, and rising demand for sportswear, the global yarn, fibre, and thread market is projected to reach USD 138.8 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 6.4%. Eco-friendly production is a key market driver, and Yarn Expo Autumn is well-aligned with these trends.

The show’s international and product-specific zones – including the India Pavilion, Pakistan Zone, International Zone, and dedicated segments for regenerated, cotton, synthetic, specialty, and elastic yarns – are designed to meet focused sourcing needs.

Voices from the Industry

At the 2024 edition, Mr Shailesh Jain, Director of Shanti Rayons India Pvt Ltd (India), shared:

“I came to explore specialty yarns, polyester yarns, and more. I have found good collections and valuable contacts here, also discovering new products and technologies which I have not seen before. Yarn Expo is doing a great job promoting sustainability. I took some samples of a Chinese yarn made from seaweed today, which I plan to buy when I return to India. The fair’s fringe events, such as the trend forum, are beneficial to us as visitors.”

Meanwhile, Mr Karuna Changmai, Vice President and Global Sales Head of Thai Acrylic Fibre Co Ltd, reflected on the fair’s global reach:

“Rooted in Shanghai, the fair also attracts many international visitors. We target international and especially Chinese customers, and have met new buyers today and secured new connections. Yarn Expo emphasises sustainability, featuring many exhibitors dedicated to green initiatives, which is crucial for the future of the fashion industry. It is the right platform to promote such products, observe industry practices, and potentially collaborate with others. Exhibiting in the International Yarn Zone is a good idea and we may consider expanding our booth next year.”

A Strategic Global Sourcing Destination

In 2024, China retained its lead as both the largest exporter and importer of textile yarns, with India, Türkiye, and Italy ranking among the top. Yarn Expo Autumn effectively reflects these global trade patterns, ensuring comprehensive product offerings and buyer-seller engagement.

Adding to this year’s synergies, the fair will be held concurrently with:

  • Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition

  • CHIC

  • PH Value

This collaboration offers unmatched access to products across fibres, yarns, fabrics, accessories, fashion, and knits, fostering multi-sectoral trade and innovation.

From 3 – 5 September, Yarn Expo will also align with Cinte Techtextile China at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, covering technical textiles and nonwovens.
