Novotel Nairobi Westlands’ Culinary Leader Wins Global Accolade at Better Kitchen Awards 2025

In a major achievement for Kenya’s hospitality industry, Chef Abhijeet Bagwe, Executive Chef at Novotel Nairobi Westlands, has been honoured as Global Chef of the Year at the Better Kitchen Awards 2025, held in Mumbai, India. This accolade marks a defining moment for the chef and the hotel, spotlighting their commitment to excellence, cross-cultural culinary innovation, and consistent culinary leadership on the world stage.

The Better Kitchen Awards, now in their third edition, are recognized globally for celebrating outstanding achievements in the culinary and hospitality sectors. Attracting over 300 top professionals from across the HoReCa industry, the event is a key moment in the international hospitality calendar.

Chef Abhijeet Bagwe, while receiving the award, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition, stating:

Since the opening of Novotel Nairobi Westlands in August 2024, Chef Abhijeet has played an instrumental role in shaping the hotel’s culinary identity. Known for his signature blend of local and international flavors, his menus have redefined dining experiences in Nairobi—from lavish buffets to bespoke culinary events. His creations have become a favorite among hotel guests and residents alike.

Fabio Gonsalves, General Manager of Novotel Nairobi Westlands, who was present at the award ceremony, highlighted the significance of the achievement:
