Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, officially laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the Gurugram Metro project.
Highlighting its significance, Mr. Saini stated at the Gurugram University auditorium, “The metro rail project will reduce congestion and pollution in the city. This is a historic day, and this project will transform Gurugram’s transport infrastructure while strengthening connectivity across NCR.”
The highly anticipated metro expansion includes the construction of a 15.22 km viaduct, with the overall first phase covering 28.5 km. It will connect Millennium City Centre to Sector 101 in Gurugram, passing through 13 intermediate stations.
Mr. Khattar, addressing the audience, noted that the project entails an investment of approximately ₹5,600 crore and will accelerate development in Gurugram, Manesar, and Faridabad.
Adding to the discussion, Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman of Signature Global (India) Ltd., remarked, “The foundation of the Gurugram Metro Expansion Project marks a landmark moment in the city’s growth journey. Metro connectivity is the backbone of any modern urban ecosystem, and this expansion—spanning 15 km with 15 new stations—will ease mobility, decongest traffic, and unlock new opportunities for both businesses and citizens.”
He further emphasized, “Together with infrastructure initiatives like the Dwarka Expressway, Southern Peripheral Road, and Sohna Elevated Corridor, this metro development will redefine Gurugram as a seamlessly connected urban hub. Collectively, these projects not only enhance the real estate potential of SPR and Dwarka Expressway but also establish the foundation for balanced, sustainable, and inclusive urban growth.
