January 2026 marks a key milestone for Asahi Kasei, as the company announces the gradual restart of Bemberg™ production at its Nobeoka facility in Japan, the brand’s sole manufacturing site. The restart follows extensive restoration work after a partial shutdown caused by an incident in April 2022.

The resumption of operations reflects significant investments made by Asahi Kasei to strengthen safety systems, restore production infrastructure, and ensure long-term operational stability. Production will be ramped up in stages, with a focus on reliability, efficiency and consistent supply to global markets.

With the restart underway, Asahi Kasei is reaffirming its commitment to supporting customers and partners with dependable delivery and renewed confidence in Bemberg™ cupro fibre. The company has worked continuously over the past years to rebuild capacity while placing safety and sustainability at the core of its operations.

Commenting on the development, Kaoru Hashimoto, Senior General Manager of Bemberg™, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their patience and trust during the recovery period. He highlighted that restoring production represents a critical step forward and reinforces Asahi Kasei’s dedication to building a responsible, future-focused business in collaboration with its partners.

This restart signals a new chapter for Bemberg™, strengthening its position as a premium regenerated fibre and supporting long-term growth across fashion and textile applications.
