Global student competition to focus on science-based environmental awareness campaigns

BE GREEN HEROES, in collaboration with Clean Recycling Initiative and HEAT-MX, has announced the 2026 edition of the International True Sustainability Competition (ITSC). Previously known as the International Sustainability Marketing Competition (ISMC), the initiative invites post-secondary students worldwide to create campaigns addressing environmental misinformation and sustainability narratives lacking scientific foundation.

According to the organisers, the competition follows the 2024 edition of ISMC, which involved nearly 1,500 students from 702 post-secondary institutions across 120 countries.

The 2026 competition introduces Web3-based recognition for registrants, participants and winners, along with monetary awards for selected winners. Organisers stated that the revised format expands participation opportunities and integrates educational resources into the BE GREEN HEROES learning platform.

“We are pleased to once again present this global event, now offering enhanced learning experiences and Web3 based recognition for all participants. We paused the competition in 2025 to focus on integrating it into the BE GREEN HEROES learning platform under the LEARN. EARN. ACT. principles. The result is a stronger program, where participants access free learning materials and earn certificates for Green Hero Coins (GHC), with tokens to be issued upon official launch,” said Sae Chang.

“This truly innovative platform connects science based learning with recognition through Green Hero Coins and enables participants to engage in BGH’s operational decisions. While this competition is currently open to post secondary students, similar opportunities will soon be extended to the general public and high school students,” he added.

The organisers stated that information sessions will be conducted across three different time zones to support international participation. Additional details regarding the competition are available on BE GREEN HEROES.

BE GREEN HEROES operates as a non-profit organisation focused on science-based sustainability learning and awareness. Clean Recycling Initiative develops technology platforms related to synthetic waste reclamation and environmental impact reduction.
