Jakarta expo to focus on waste management, recycling and cross-sector collaboration

Indo Waste & Recycling 2026 Expo & Forum is expanding its international outreach ahead of its 2026 edition, with organisers engaging global stakeholders through participation in international environmental and green energy industry events, including an exhibition in South Korea scheduled for 20–22 May 2026.

According to the organisers, the initiative is intended to support partnership building, knowledge exchange and discussions around Indonesia’s growing waste management and recycling market.

The development comes as the Indonesian government increases its focus on waste management improvements. Under the direction of Prabowo Subianto, waste handling has been identified as a national priority, with emphasis on upstream waste reduction, downstream processing, waste-to-energy initiatives and wider private sector participation.

The government is also working on infrastructure expansion, landfill management improvements and circular economy initiatives. President Prabowo Subianto stated that “waste management is now a national priority, and within the next 2–3 years, we must be able to bring waste under control across Indonesia.”

Organisers stated that increasing waste volumes, particularly in urban regions, are driving demand for technology, investment and international collaboration across Indonesia’s waste and recycling sector.

The 16th edition of Indo Waste & Recycling will take place from 11–13 August 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran. The event will be held alongside Indo Water, Indo Renergy & Electric, Indo Security, Indo Firex and IISMEX (Indonesia International Smart City Expo & Forum), creating an integrated platform for cross-sector engagement.

According to organisers, the 2025 edition hosted 620 exhibitors from 26 countries, including 12 international country pavilions. For 2026, the event is targeting participation from 700 exhibitors representing 30 countries, along with 17,000 professional visitors.
