Cairo event brings together Italian textile machinery companies and Egyptian industry operators
A workshop focused on Italian textile technologies and advanced solutions for the textile industry concluded in Cairo on 5 and 6 May 2026, bringing together representatives from the Italian textile machinery sector and Egyptian textile operators.
The initiative was organised by ICE Agency and ACIMIT, with support from the Italian Embassy in Cairo and United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
According to organisers, the workshop featured participation from 23 Italian textile machinery companies and more than 120 Egyptian industry operators. The event focused on industrial collaboration opportunities, textile sector development, and technology transfer between Italy and Egypt.
The discussions highlighted Egypt’s strategic importance for Italian textile machinery manufacturers and explored how advanced technologies can support the modernisation of the Egyptian textile industry.
Italian textile machinery manufacturers are recognised internationally for technologies focused on innovation, quality, sustainability, efficiency, and advanced production systems. During the workshop, participants also discussed the role of specialist training and technical knowledge transfer in supporting the long-term competitiveness of Egypt’s textile sector.
According to data released by ACIMIT, Italian exports of textile machinery to Egypt reached €72 million in 2025, making Egypt the leading African market for the Italian textile machinery industry. Technologies related to finishing, weaving, and spinning were identified as the most requested among Egyptian textile manufacturers.
Marco Salvadè said, “Egypt is now one of the most dynamic and strategic markets for our sector. The strong participation of Italian companies in the Cairo workshop demonstrates the desire to further strengthen industrial collaboration between the two countries. Italian technologies can make a tangible contribution to the competitiveness of the Egyptian textile industry, particularly in processes focused on quality, sustainability and production efficiency. The Cairo workshop is also part of a wider programme of initiatives aimed at promoting Italy’s presence at ITMA Hannover 2027, the world’s leading event dedicated to textile and clothing technologies, where Italian companies will once again showcase the best of textile machinery innovation.”
The organisers stated that the Cairo workshop also forms part of broader initiatives linked to promoting Italy’s participation in ITMA Hannover 2027.
