High Point market highlights Scandinavian influences, organic forms and understated interiors

Furniture and home décor trends showcased at the annual spring market in High Point are reflecting a growing preference for understated interiors, organic materials, and sculptural furniture forms.

Often compared to runway presentations in the fashion industry, the furniture market highlighted evolving consumer interest in clean lines, neutral colour palettes, and natural textures rather than bold decorative statements.

One of the dominant trends across collections is the influence of Scandinavian-inspired design. Light-toned woods and minimalist silhouettes are increasingly replacing darker finishes, with an emphasis on functionality, craftsmanship, and simplicity rooted in European interior aesthetics.

Organic and curved forms are also becoming more prominent throughout furniture categories. Rounded sofas, circular tables, and arched design elements are replacing sharper, box-like structures to create softer visual flow and a more relaxed atmosphere within living spaces.

Upholstery trends are shifting toward larger, deeper seating profiles with fuller silhouettes and wider armrests. Neutral tones such as cream and taupe are becoming more widely used, while cooler grey palettes are appearing less frequently in contemporary collections.

Stone continues to emerge as a major material trend beyond traditional kitchen and bathroom applications. Natural stone and stone-inspired finishes are increasingly being incorporated into coffee tables, side tables, and decorative furnishings as statement design elements.

Metal finishes are also evolving, with brass remaining the dominant choice across lighting, hardware, and furniture accents. However, polished and highly reflective finishes are giving way to muted, matte, and unpolished brass surfaces that align with softer interior palettes.

Designers are also drawing inspiration from multiple historical periods. While mid-century modern influences remain consistent, art deco-inspired elements including sculptural lighting, curved forms, mixed materials, and two-tone furniture pieces are appearing more frequently in contemporary interiors.

Seating design is becoming increasingly experimental, with asymmetrical forms and exaggerated curves transforming chairs into standalone visual focal points while maintaining practical functionality.

The modern farmhouse aesthetic is also continuing to evolve. Traditional farmhouse furniture is being updated with simplified lines, restrained detailing, and contemporary finishes that balance rustic influences with modern styling.
