New initiative to focus on AI policy, infrastructure and ecosystem development in India

Pan IIT Alumni India has soft-launched “Pan IIT AI Niti (Pariniti)”, a new think tank focused on India’s Artificial Intelligence ecosystem, during an event held at Bombay Gymkhana.

The initiative has been introduced as a platform to contribute to discussions around AI policy, governance, infrastructure and innovation across India’s technology ecosystem.

According to Pan IIT Alumni India, the think tank will address different layers of the AI value chain, including semiconductors, energy, cloud infrastructure, data centres, algorithms, governance and AI applications.

Prabhat Kumar said: “Pan IIT AI Niti (Pariniti) is a significant step towards building India’s thought leadership in Artificial Intelligence. Through this initiative, Pan IIT Alumni India aims to bring together IIT alumni, industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers to contribute towards responsible AI growth, innovation, and nation building.”

The organisation stated that the think tank will be chaired by the Chairman of Pan IIT and will include subject matter experts from the IIT alumni network as Core Members. It will operate through five to six specialised verticals focusing on different aspects of the AI ecosystem.

Approximately 50–60 professionals, including CEOs, CXOs, startup founders, venture capital partners, senior civil servants and academics, are expected to join the initiative following a profile review process.

Praxis Global Alliance has been appointed as the Think Tank Partner and Knowledge Partner for Pariniti. The company will support research, data analysis, discussion frameworks and the preparation of white papers, policy briefs and opinion articles.

According to the organisers, all intellectual property generated through the think tank’s work will remain with Pan IIT Alumni India.

The think tank plans to conduct monthly online meetings involving smaller working groups, with discussions expected to be converted into policy recommendations and public discussion material.

“Pan IIT has always been a bridge between talent, policy, and execution,” added Prabhat Kumar. “Pariniti will take that legacy forward – by turning IIT alumni expertise into real-world policy influence and market reality checks for policymakers.”

The launch event held on 28th May 2026 was attended by IIT alumni, startup ecosystem participants, investors and industry representatives.
