LANXESS Retains Top European Position in Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has once again secured the top position in Europe in the latest Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index under the Chemicals category, while ranking fifth globally among industry peers.

The company achieved particularly strong scores in key sustainability areas including climate strategy, water management, human rights, and product stewardship, reinforcing its position among the leading sustainability performers in the global chemical sector.

Sustainability Remains a Strategic Focus

Commenting on the achievement, Matthias Zachert, Chief Executive Officer of LANXESS AG, said the recognition highlights the company’s continued commitment to sustainability despite challenging economic conditions.

“Our excellent performance in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index underlines that sustainability is firmly embedded in LANXESS’ corporate strategy—an area where we make no compromises, even in difficult economic times,” said Zachert.

He added that the company’s progress in climate protection, resource management, and corporate governance continues to receive international recognition from customers, investors, and business partners.

Sustainalytics Upgrades LANXESS to Low Risk

In addition to its Dow Jones ranking, LANXESS has also improved its sustainability assessment from Sustainalytics, which evaluates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks.

The company was upgraded from the “Medium Risk” category to “Low Risk”, achieving a score of 19.6 points. This places LANXESS among the top 4 percent of companies in the Specialty Chemicals segment and within the top 6 percent of the global chemical industry.

Recognition from Global Sustainability Platforms

Several other leading sustainability organizations have also recognized LANXESS for its environmental and governance initiatives.

  • CDP once again included LANXESS on its prestigious “A List” for climate protection.
  • The company received an “A-” rating for its water management efforts.
  • EcoVadis reaffirmed LANXESS’ Gold status, awarding the company 83 out of 100 points, placing it among the leading performers in its industry.

The latest recognitions reflect LANXESS’ ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into its operations and long-term business strategy. The company continues to focus on climate action, efficient resource management, responsible product development, and strong governance practices as part of its sustainability agenda.
