Rossano Bisio’s creative vision highlights innovation, sustainability and the future of textile development

The latest product development proposals for Filo66 have officially gone live through Botanica, a digital presentation of textile inspirations created by fabric designer Rossano Bisio. The launch marks an important milestone in the lead-up to the 66th edition of Filo, offering the textile industry a forward-looking vision that combines innovation, sustainability and manufacturing excellence.

According to Federica Bazzani, a member of Filo’s management team, Botanica was conceived as a symbol of renewal and recovery for both the textile and fashion industries. The concept reflects Filo’s long-standing commitment to balancing innovation with traditional textile expertise while integrating sustainability, aesthetics and industrial practicality.

As one of the leading international exhibitions dedicated to yarns and textile materials, Filo has established a reputation for providing concrete product development directions for manufacturers. The online release of its proposals has become a highly anticipated event among textile professionals seeking insights into future material and fabric developments.

Botanica extends this tradition by presenting practical examples of how textile materials can evolve—from yarns and fabrics to embellishment techniques and finished garments. The initiative also serves as the starting point for the development of the next edition of Made in Filo, the fabric collection entirely conceived and produced by Filo. The collection, based on the concepts introduced through Botanica, will be unveiled during the September edition of the exhibition.

Bazzani emphasized that the project reflects Filo’s commitment to maintaining an ongoing dialogue with exhibitors. Through continuous collaboration and exchange of ideas, the exhibition aims to strengthen its relationship with participating companies while supporting innovation throughout the textile value chain.

Designer Rossano Bisio described Botanica as a manifesto for the rebirth of the textile industry, where traditional manufacturing expertise forms the foundation and innovation drives future growth. He noted that the initiative seeks to offer a positive and optimistic vision for an industry facing challenging market conditions and external uncertainties.

The creative concept is structured around three distinct product development themes: Spontaneous Botanica, Expanded Botanica, and Hybridised Botanica.

The Spontaneous Botanica theme highlights the elegance of natural fibres and celebrates simplicity through refined textures and organic materials. Expanded Botanica represents a more structured and rational approach to recovery, focusing on sophisticated textile constructions and advanced material development. Hybridised Botanica explores innovative solutions designed to deliver enhanced functionality, performance and resilience for future applications.

Together, these themes create a unified vision of contemporary textile development characterized by sustainable sophistication and modern elegance. Natural earth-inspired shades are combined with refined colour accents, while tactile textures and subtle light reflections add depth and richness to fabrics.

At the heart of Botanica lies the concept of yarn as a living material—capable of creating a fluid dialogue between craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability. The resulting aesthetic embraces quiet luxury, timeless design and responsible textile development, offering a roadmap for future collections and material innovations.

Through Botanica, Filo66 reinforces its role as a platform for creativity, technological advancement and collaboration, providing the textile industry with inspiration and practical directions for the next generation of yarns, fabrics and fashion materials.
