Heimtextil Celebrates Milan Design Week with Patricia Urquiola and Alcova Milano

Heimtextil reinforced its position as a leading platform for textile and interior design innovation during Milan Design Week, highlighting its collaborations with renowned designer Patricia Urquiola and design collective Alcova Milano.

Hosted at Villa Pestarini in Milan, the event showcased Heimtextil’s ongoing commitment to fostering creative partnerships that bridge textiles, architecture and contemporary design. The gathering celebrated the successful collaborations that have shaped recent editions of the world’s leading home and contract textiles trade fair.

Patricia Urquiola, whose installations have become a major attraction at Heimtextil, emphasized the evolving role of textiles in modern design.

“It is always meaningful to continue the dialogue with Heimtextil in Milan, a place where different energies converge. To continue this collaboration means to carry forward a shared line of research, seeing textiles not as mere surfaces, but as living systems: structures, interfaces, and fields of experimentation in continuous evolution,” said Urquiola.

Her work has consistently explored textiles as transformative materials that integrate craftsmanship, technology, texture, sustainability and structural innovation. Through immersive installations, she has demonstrated how textiles can actively shape environments and influence human interaction.

Commenting on the collaboration, Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, said, “At the last two editions of Heimtextil, Patricia Urquiola presented textile design at the highest level. With her exclusive installations, she impressively demonstrated the relevance of textiles in interior design.”

At Heimtextil 2026, Urquiola unveiled the immersive installation “among-all,” a concept exploring the future of interior spaces through innovative materials, advanced technologies and interactive design. The installation encouraged visitor participation, integrating movement and AI-powered tools to transform the experience into a dynamic dialogue between people, textiles and space.

The project highlighted how textiles are increasingly becoming intelligent, responsive elements within interior environments, redefining the relationship between design, technology and sustainability.

By celebrating its partnerships with Patricia Urquiola and Alcova Milano during Milan Design Week, Heimtextil continues to strengthen its role as a global platform for design innovation, inspiring the next generation of textile-led interior concepts and creative collaborations.
