New 107,000 Sq. Ft. Store Strengthens Ikea’s Presence in the Washington Region
Ikea U.S. has announced that its newest store in the Washington metropolitan area, Ikea Chantilly, will officially open its doors on June 18, 2026, further expanding the retailer’s footprint in Northern Virginia.
Located at 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center Drive, the new store becomes Ikea’s seventh location serving the greater Washington region. It joins existing Ikea stores in Woodbridge and College Park, along with planning and ordering points in Georgetown, Fairfax, Gaithersburg and Annapolis.
Bringing Ikea Closer to More Customers
Commenting on the launch, Rob Olson, Interim CEO of Ikea U.S., highlighted the significance of the opening as Ikea marks four decades in the Washington area.
“We’re so proud to be celebrating 40 years in the greater Washington region, and opening Ikea Chantilly is just another meaningful step in our journey to be more accessible to the many people,” Olson said.
“This store makes it easier for more people to access affordable home furnishings whether they’re planning their dream space or stopping in for items they can take home the same day.”
Wide Product Selection and Planning Services
The new 107,000-square-foot store will showcase more than 7,700 products, with approximately 4,400 items available for immediate takeaway. The assortment includes home furnishing accessories as well as more than 500 small furniture products that customers can purchase and take home directly.
A dedicated planning area within the store will offer personalized consultations for customers seeking assistance with home design, room planning, and furnishing solutions.
Swedish Food Experience and Sustainable Features
In keeping with Ikea’s global retail concept, the Chantilly location will feature a Swedish food experience serving customer favorites such as meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs and veggie dogs.
The store will also include an As-Is department, providing shoppers access to gently used, returned and discontinued products at discounted prices, supporting Ikea’s sustainability and circular economy initiatives.
Additional customer-focused amenities include electric vehicle charging stations located within the shared parking area.
Supporting Local Communities
Scott Reid, Market Manager of Ikea Woodbridge, noted that the new location has been designed to reflect evolving customer shopping preferences.
“Ikea Chantilly was designed with everyday needs in mind — making it easier for customers to shop, plan and bring items home the same day,” Reid said.
“As Ikea continues to grow across the U.S., we’re excited to welcome customers into a store that reflects how they live today and to be an active, supportive part of the local community.”
Continued Expansion Across the United States
The opening of Ikea Chantilly is part of the retailer’s broader U.S. growth strategy focused on enhancing accessibility through a mix of full-size stores, smaller-format locations, and planning studios.
With strong demand for affordable home furnishings and convenient shopping experiences, the new Virginia location is expected to strengthen Ikea’s connection with customers across Northern Virginia and the wider Washington metropolitan area while supporting the company’s continued expansion in North America.
