BB Engineering Showcases PET Textile Recycling Technologies at PRSE 2026

German machinery manufacturer BB Engineering will showcase its latest PET recycling technologies at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) 2026, taking place in Amsterdam on May 5–6. The company will focus on advanced textile recycling solutions and melt filtration technologies designed to improve recycling efficiency and support the circular economy.

Focus on PET Textile Recycling

BB Engineering offers a broad portfolio of machinery and systems for producing films, synthetic fibres, and PET recycling. Leveraging its experience in the synthetic fibre industry, the company has developed specialized solutions for textile PET recycling, enabling processors to handle a wide range of recycled feedstocks.

At PRSE 2026, the company will highlight two flagship technologies: VacuFil® and COBRA®.

VacuFil® Delivers High-Quality rPET

The VacuFil® PET recycling system combines large-area filtration with precise intrinsic viscosity (IV) adjustment to produce consistently high-quality recycled PET (rPET).

Its modular design enables processors to recycle various PET feedstocks, including:

  • PET bottle flakes
  • Textile waste
  • Fibre waste
  • Start-up lumps

The system can be configured for applications ranging from bottle-to-bottle recycling to 100% fibre-to-fibre recycling.

At the heart of the technology is the patented Visco+ unit, which uses liquid-state polycondensation (LSP) to remove volatile contaminants while delivering a highly uniform melt. The system can increase viscosity by up to 30%, depending on throughput, while maintaining viscosity consistency within ±0.01 dl/g.

An integrated online viscometer continuously monitors the process to ensure stable product quality. VacuFil® supports production capacities ranging from 150 kg/h to 4,000 kg/h.

COBRA® Enhances Melt Filtration

BB Engineering will also present COBRA®, its latest melt filtration system developed to address the increasing contamination levels found in recycled plastics.

The system features continuous large-area filtration combined with automated, chemical-free intermediate cleaning. Two filter cartridges with automatic switching ensure uninterrupted production even when processing highly contaminated recycled materials.

According to the company, the integrated cleaning system extends filter life while reducing maintenance requirements, melt losses, energy consumption, and operating costs without using chemicals.

COBRA® can be used for both coarse and fine filtration and is suitable not only for PET recycling but also for applications such as plastic spinning. The system can also be retrofitted into existing production lines to improve filtration efficiency.

Supporting Circular Plastics Processing

By combining advanced recycling technologies with efficient melt filtration, BB Engineering aims to support manufacturers seeking higher-quality recycled PET while improving process efficiency and reducing operating costs.

The company’s solutions are designed to help processors meet growing demand for recycled materials across packaging, textile, and industrial applications.
