Trade fair to focus on energy-efficient housing, modernisation and HVAC innovations

ISH 2027, the world’s leading trade fair for HVAC and water technologies, will focus on practical solutions for energy-efficient, comfortable and sustainable housing as the residential construction sector across Germany and Europe continues to evolve.

Scheduled to take place in Frankfurt am Main from 15–19 March 2027, the exhibition will showcase integrated building technologies designed to address changing housing requirements, including higher energy efficiency standards, the modernisation of existing buildings and the increasing demand for adaptable living spaces.

Residential Construction Trends

According to market data cited by the organisers, Euroconstruct expects the European construction industry to return to growth from 2026 following recent declines. Residential construction is projected to recover gradually and regain momentum by 2028, while refurbishment and the sustainable development of existing buildings are expected to play a larger role in construction activity across Europe.

The report notes that buildings are increasingly expected to combine energy efficiency, lower operating costs, comfort and long-term usability, with age-friendly housing becoming an important consideration in modern residential planning.

Focus on Practical Building Solutions

ISH 2027 will present technologies and systems aimed at improving residential construction and renovation through several dedicated solution areas.

The Bathroom section will highlight compact, accessible and functional bathroom concepts that combine design, hygiene and long-term usability for project developers, planners and contractors.

The Water-bearing Systems area will feature innovations in hygienic drinking water installations, heating circuits, drainage systems and rainwater harvesting technologies designed to improve resource efficiency and operational reliability.

In the Heat Generation section, exhibitors will showcase technologies including heat pumps, hybrid heating systems and renewable energy integration for residential buildings.

The Indoor Air area will focus on ventilation solutions that support healthy indoor environments, particularly in energy-efficient buildings where controlled air circulation has become increasingly important.

Meanwhile, the Installation section will demonstrate prefabricated components, modern installation methods and workflow improvements intended to simplify construction and refurbishment projects while improving on-site efficiency.

Industry Knowledge Exchange

Alongside the exhibition, ISH 2027 will host a programme of specialist presentations, conferences and expert forums covering energy-efficient building services, sustainable water management, heating decarbonisation, refurbishment of existing buildings and long-term residential design strategies.

The event aims to provide architects, engineers, contractors, planners, housing associations, facility managers and other industry professionals with practical insights into the future of residential construction.
