Mysuru district has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to transform itself into a major textile and apparel (T&A) export hub, targeting US$500 million in exports by 2030, up from US$53 million recorded in FY 2024–25.

The export strategy was presented during a district-level workshop inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, outlining a projected annual growth rate of approximately 45% for the textile sector.

During FY 2024–25, Mysuru recorded total exports of approximately US$820 million, with textile and apparel exports contributing US$53 million, representing nearly 2% of Karnataka’s textile and apparel exports. The district currently has more than 10 active textile and apparel exporters.

Mysuru’s manufacturing ecosystem comprises over 61,500 MSMEs, 25,447 industrial units, and 916 registered industrial establishments, supported by eight KIADB industrial estates.

The district is also leveraging its rich textile heritage through the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), which produces around 75,000 Mysore silk sarees annually. Additional initiatives, including a dedicated Silk Cluster and a proposed Textile Park, are expected to further strengthen the region’s textile manufacturing capabilities.

Mysuru’s export portfolio includes readymade garments, shirts, sportswear, furnishing fabrics, and technical textiles such as FIBCs, polypropylene fabrics, container liners, polyethylene liners, and flexi tanks.

These products are exported primarily to Europe, the United States, Japan, and the Middle East, supporting the district’s strategy to expand its presence in international markets and achieve its long-term export growth objectives.
