Mexico-based spinning mill Zagis has strengthened its manufacturing capabilities by investing in a complete Rieter ring spinning system, enabling higher productivity, consistent yarn quality and greater operational transparency. The investment reflects the company’s long-term strategy to improve competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
Operating in a market where yarns made from multiple blends of natural and man-made fibres must meet demanding quality standards, Zagis sought a fully integrated production solution rather than focusing on individual machines. The objective was to improve productivity without compromising yarn quality, minimise manual intervention, reduce production interruptions and gain complete visibility across the manufacturing process.
According to Rafael Zaga Saba, CEO of Zagis, the decision to invest in a complete Rieter system has significantly enhanced the company’s competitive position.
“Investing in a complete Rieter system was a strategic decision that has strengthened our competitiveness in Mexico and our export markets,” he said.
The integrated spinning line begins with the VARIOline blowroom system, designed for efficient fibre opening, followed by the C 80 card for high-performance sliver production. The process continues with the OMEGAlap E 36 lap winding machine and the E 90 comber, supported by the ROBOlap automated lap-changing system to improve combed sliver quality.
The production flow is further supported by the RSB-D 26 autoleveller draw frame, ensuring consistent sliver evenness, while the F 40 roving frame equipped with the SERVOtrail bobbin transport system streamlines roving handling. Yarn production is completed on the G 38 ring spinning machine, delivering strong and uniform yarns suitable for demanding downstream applications.
A key component of the investment is ESSENTIALmonitor, part of the Rieter Digital Spinning Suite, which provides real-time production monitoring. The digital platform enables Zagis to analyse performance data, identify operational bottlenecks and optimise workforce deployment, contributing to improved manufacturing efficiency.
The company reports that automation technologies such as ROBOlap and SERVOtrail have reduced manual handling requirements and minimised downtime while creating a more operator-friendly production environment.
Improved yarn evenness and consistent quality have also strengthened Zagis’ relationships with yarn traders and downstream customers, supporting the company’s expansion in export markets.
With its integrated machinery platform and digital monitoring capabilities, Zagis believes the investment provides a strong foundation for sustained growth, operational efficiency and long-term competitiveness in the global textile industry.
