Woolmark has officially opened applications for the next edition of the International Woolmark Prize (IWP), inviting emerging designers from around the world to participate in one of fashion’s most prestigious awards dedicated to creativity and innovation using Australian Merino wool.
For more than 70 years, the International Woolmark Prize has played a significant role in launching the careers of internationally acclaimed designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino Garavani, Rahul Mishra, and Gabriela Hearst. The competition continues to provide a global platform that celebrates design excellence, craftsmanship and material innovation.
For its latest edition, Woolmark has expanded the eligibility criteria to reflect the evolving nature of careers within the fashion industry. In addition to independent fashion labels, designers who have built their experience within established fashion brands and organisations are now also encouraged to apply.
The updated approach recognises that many creative professionals today develop expertise by leading collections, driving product innovation and shaping brand direction before launching their own labels—or by choosing to remain within established fashion businesses.
Following the application process, shortlisted participants will take part in a series of discovery and incubation programmes designed to strengthen both their creative and commercial capabilities. Participants will also gain access to industry mentors, professional guidance and Woolmark’s international fashion network.
Through the International Woolmark Prize, Woolmark continues to support the next generation of global fashion talent while promoting the versatility, innovation and natural performance benefits of Australian Merino wool across the international fashion industry.
