India’s textile and apparel industry is preparing for a new phase of sustainable and globally competitive growth as ASSOCHAM Maharashtra State Council announced the Farm to Foreign Conclave – Advancing India’s 5F Vision for Sustainable & Traceable Textile Value Chains, scheduled for August 19, 2026, in Mumbai.
The conclave aims to bring together policymakers, government officials, textile manufacturers, exporters, global brands, retailers, farmers’ organisations, sustainability experts, technology providers, certification agencies, financial institutions and industry leaders to discuss strategies for creating an integrated, transparent and environmentally responsible textile ecosystem.
The event aligns with the Government of India’s 5F Framework – Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign, which promotes value-chain integration, technology adoption and export competitiveness. Complementing this vision are initiatives such as the Mission for Cotton Productivity, PM MITRA Parks, and the National Technical Textiles Mission, all designed to strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities while encouraging sustainable production and innovation.
With international regulations such as the EU Green Deal, Digital Product Passport (DPP), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and enhanced ESG reporting becoming increasingly important, the conclave will focus on helping Indian businesses prepare for evolving global compliance requirements and responsible sourcing expectations.
The programme will feature four key thematic sessions covering the complete textile value chain.
The “From Soil to Sustainable Fibre” session will explore regenerative agriculture, climate-resilient farming, water conservation, biodiversity, soil health and traceable fibre production, while highlighting opportunities for cotton, hemp and bamboo cultivation through collaboration between farmers, FPOs, certification bodies and industry stakeholders.
The “Fibre to Fabric: Scaling Responsible Manufacturing” session will discuss cleaner textile production through sustainable processing technologies, green chemistry, energy efficiency, water conservation, chemical management and digital traceability solutions that improve manufacturing competitiveness.
The “Design to Lifecycle: Circular Fashion, Consumer Responsibility & Future Retail Trends” panel will examine sustainable product design, recycling, material efficiency, waste reduction, product durability and the growing importance of circular fashion supported by EPR frameworks and lifecycle transparency.
The final session, “Farm to Foreign: Traceability, Global Compliance & Export Readiness,” will focus on strengthening India’s export ecosystem through blockchain-enabled traceability, digital supply chains, sustainability certifications, ESG implementation and strategies that help MSMEs meet international market requirements.
Featuring more than 20 industry experts and thought leaders, the conclave will provide a platform for knowledge sharing, strategic discussions and networking aimed at accelerating sustainable transformation across India’s textile value chain.
By fostering collaboration between agriculture, manufacturing, fashion and international trade, the Farm to Foreign Conclave seeks to position India as a global leader in sustainable, transparent and future-ready textile production while supporting long-term industry growth and export competitiveness.
