Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd., part of global advanced materials company Toray Industries, Inc., has successfully gone live with Centric PLM™ from Centric Software, strengthening its product development processes, cost management capabilities and cross-functional oversight.
The implementation is designed to improve efficiency and visibility across Toray Industries’ development and production-related activities as the company responds to increasingly diverse and complex market and customer requirements.
Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Japan, Toray Industries has grown from a rayon yarn manufacturer into a global advanced materials company. Its operations span textiles as well as resins, chemicals, films, carbon fiber composites, electronic materials, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and water treatment solutions. Through a global network of more than 300 group companies, the company serves customers across multiple industries, including fashion and apparel.
Centralizing Product Development and Cost Information
As product requirements became more complex, Toray Industries identified the need to streamline information management and improve coordination between teams involved in production and product development.
The company implemented Centric PLM to establish greater visibility across cross-functional teams and create a centralized foundation for development specifications and cost-related information.
The implementation was primarily driven through Toray’s Hong Kong operations, which serves as an important hub for production management. The project was rolled out through a phased implementation approach designed to support a controlled transition while maintaining project timelines and scope.
Kotaro Kishi, Division Manager, Transformation Hub at Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd., said, “Given the number of stakeholders involved, the project required extensive coordination. With the expertise of the Centric Software team and strong alignment across the project teams, Toray is pleased to have reached go-live on time, within scope and within budget.”
Focus on User Adoption and Cross-Functional Alignment
To support adoption among users, Toray Industries and Centric Software placed emphasis on cross-functional alignment, clear ownership and practical user engagement throughout the implementation.
The approach was intended to build momentum among teams at an early stage and support a smoother transition to the new system at go-live.
With Centric PLM now fully deployed, Toray Industries expects the platform to support more precise cost management, improved profitability and stronger oversight of product development.
“We expect Centric PLM to contribute significantly to higher profitability, more precise cost management and stronger development oversight. We will continue to utilize the system to bolster our competitive edge in the long run,” Toray Industries said.
Centric PLM Supports Digital Transformation
Centric Software provides AI-powered, end-to-end enterprise solutions that support product planning, design, development, sourcing, compliance, manufacturing, pricing, allocation, assortment, sales and replenishment across industries.
Fabrice Canonge, CEO of Centric Software, said, “We are delighted that Toray Industries, known for its cutting-edge materials and innovation, has gone live with Centric PLM to drive efficiency and respond faster to evolving customer requirements. Centric Software is proud to partner with Toray on this milestone and on the next phase of its digital transformation.”
The successful implementation marks another step in Toray Industries’ digital transformation journey, with Centric PLM providing a centralized platform to strengthen development processes and cost visibility as the company continues to respond to changing market needs.
