Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) and Première Vision SA have signed a new strategic MoU. The agreement will boost cooperation between India and France in textiles and fashion.
The MoU was signed on September 2, 2026, during the Première Vision exhibition in Paris.
Dr. A. Sakthivel, Core Committee Member, BTTF and Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), signed the agreement. Ms. Florence Rousson, CEO – Fashion Division, Première Vision SA, also signed the MoU.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Ms. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), was also present.
Senior textile leaders and industry representatives attended the event. Designers, Export Promotion Council officials, Indian Embassy officials and BTTF members were also present.
Partnership to Support Indian Textiles
The new MoU builds on a Letter of Intent signed at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi on July 14, 2026.
The partnership will cover trade, sourcing, design and sustainability. It will also promote India’s rich textile heritage.
The agreement will help Indian textile companies connect with global buyers. It will also create links with fashion brands and premium sourcing networks.
Première Vision is a major global platform for fashion, textiles and sourcing. Its global network can give Indian companies more access to international markets.
Focus on Premium Markets
The partnership will support India’s move towards high-value textile exports.
Indian companies can use this platform to reach premium buyers. They can also showcase products with strong design and quality.
The partners will share market knowledge and industry insights. This can help Indian businesses understand global fashion trends.
The agreement will also support buyer-seller meetings. It will encourage more business links between Indian and international companies.
Sustainability is a Key Focus
Sustainability is another major part of the partnership.
BTTF and Première Vision will promote circularity, traceability and responsible production.
Both organisations will also work on sustainability activities at their events. These efforts can help promote responsible practices across the textile value chain.
Indian Craft and Heritage to Get Global Exposure
The MoU also gives importance to textile heritage and craftsmanship.
The partners will create an Eternal Crafts Collaboration. The initiative will showcase Indian and French textile traditions.
One key programme is “A Living Thread.” It is planned for January 2027.
The programme will feature Indian hand embroidery and handloom techniques. It will also highlight other traditional crafts.
French textile heritage will be presented alongside Indian crafts. This will create a common platform for artisans and creative professionals.
New Opportunities in Europe
The partnership comes at an important time for India-EU trade.
The India-EU Free Trade Agreement is expected to create new opportunities for Indian exporters.
The EU imported about US$292.8 billion of textiles and apparel in 2025. India exported about US$10.4 billion of textiles and apparel to the EU during the same period.
The new partnership can help Indian companies reach more European buyers. It can also support growth in premium textile and fashion segments.
The BTTF and Première Vision MoU marks a new step in India-France textile cooperation. It can help Indian textiles gain stronger visibility in global fashion markets.
The partnership also supports India’s goal of becoming a sustainable, innovative and high-value textile sourcing destination.
