Orta Anadolu has stopped denim production at its Kayseri facilities. The Turkish textile company has been in business for 73 years. It will close all its production facilities by October 12, 2026.

Orta Anadolu stopped production on September 11, 2026. The company announced the decision in a statement to customers and business partners.

The company was founded in 1953. It began supplying denim to global fashion brands in 1986.

Global challenges affect Orta Anadolu

Orta Anadolu said that global market conditions led to the decision.

The textile sector has faced several challenges in recent years. Demand has weakened in many markets. At the same time, operating costs have increased.

Financing costs have also risen. Supply chains have faced changes and delays. Trade conditions have also shifted.

These factors have put pressure on textile producers around the world.

Orta Anadolu reviewed several options before making its decision. These included cost cuts and efficiency measures.

The company also reviewed restructuring options. However, it found that its current production model was no longer sustainable.

Production will end in October

The company stopped production at its Kayseri facilities on September 11.

All production facilities will close on October 12, 2026.

Orta Anadolu said that it will work closely with its stakeholders during the closure process.

The company also said it will meet its existing business obligations. It plans to manage the process in a responsible and transparent way.

A major name in denim

Orta Anadolu has been an important name in Türkiye’s denim industry.

The company operated integrated production facilities in Kayseri. Its production covered several stages.

These included spinning, indigo dyeing, weaving and finishing.

The company supplied denim fabrics to many global brands. Its customers included Mavi, Levi’s, Lee and Wrangler.

It also supplied Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein. Other customers included Armani, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Isabel Marant.

Orta Anadolu also worked with major retailers. These included GAP, Banana Republic, H&M and COS.

Strong export business

Orta Anadolu sold its products in international markets. The company exported to around 26 countries.

It also had offices and representatives in several regions. These included Europe, the United States and Asia.

According to 2021 figures, more than 80% of its business was linked to exports.

At its peak, the company generated about €100 million in annual export revenue.

It was also among Türkiye’s top 200 exporting companies.

Pressure on Türkiye’s textile industry

The closure comes at a difficult time for Türkiye’s textile sector.

Many Turkish textile companies face higher energy costs. Labour costs have also increased.

Demand from Europe has weakened. In addition, competition from the Far East and North Africa has grown.

These factors have increased pressure on Turkish manufacturers.

Orta Anadolu’s closure shows the impact of these challenges on established textile companies.

Company thanks employees and partners

Orta Anadolu thanked its employees for their work over 73 years.

The company also thanked its customers and suppliers. Financial institutions were also included in its statement.

Orta Anadolu said it will continue to act responsibly during the closure process.

The company’s decision marks the end of production at one of Türkiye’s long-established denim manufacturers. It also reflects the wider pressure facing the global textile industry.
