The Nordic-Baltic Textile Circularity Forum 2026 will take place in Riga on 7–8 October 2026.
The two-day forum will focus on textile circularity. It will explore ways to move circular solutions from pilot projects to wider use. The event brings together two major projects. These are tExtended and the Nordic-Baltic Textile Circularity project.
Focus on Textile Circularity
tExtended is funded by Horizon Europe. It works on textile circularity across the European Union.
The Nordic-Baltic Textile Circularity project is a regional initiative. It is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Offices in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
The Forum will look at the full textile system. Topics will include:
- Textile design
- Textile use and consumption
- Reuse
- Collection
- Sorting
- Recycling
- Circular markets
- Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)
- Circular technologies
- Regional cooperation
The event will bring together policymakers, businesses and researchers. Waste-management groups, investors and innovators will also attend.
tExtended to Present Project Results
On 7 October, tExtended will present results from its four-year project. The programme will include practical solutions. It will also cover digital tools for the textile value chain.
The project will share findings on textile waste in Europe. It will also present pathways linked to its ambition of an 80% reduction in textile waste. On 8 October, the focus will move to the Nordic-Baltic region.
Sessions will cover textile circularity and new circular businesses. They will also discuss technologies, EPR and regional cooperation.
Industry Speakers and Exhibition
Pirjo Heikkilä, Principal Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, highlighted the need to connect existing solutions.
She said many technologies and business models already exist. The next step is to create conditions that support their use at scale.
The Forum will also include an exhibition. It will showcase practical circular textile solutions. The exhibition will feature results from tExtended. It will also present innovations from Nordic and Baltic countries.
A Speakers’ Corner will give innovators a platform to present their work. Projects and start-ups can showcase technologies, services and circular approaches.
