Archroma will continue as the exclusive global textile industry distributor of ZELAN DWR products under a new agreement with Nicca Chemical. Announced on October 12, 2026, the agreement extends a partnership that began more than a decade ago.
Nicca acquired the ZELAN business from The Chemours Company in March 2026. Under the new arrangement, Archroma will manage global distribution, marketing and technical support for ZELAN durable water repellents (DWRs) and the related Teflon EcoElite technology.
Archroma Continues ZELAN DWR Distribution
Archroma’s involvement with ZELAN dates back to 2015, when Teflon EcoElite with ZELAN R3 was launched by Chemours and Huntsman Textile Effects. Archroma acquired Huntsman Textile Effects in 2023.
Under the agreement, Archroma will continue supporting textile mills and brands worldwide. ZELAN-finished textiles will also qualify for Archroma’s upcoming HIGH IQ lastingrepelPRO assurance programme.
The programme aims to provide brands with a consumer-facing mark for water-repellent performance, durability and sustainability.
ZELAN R3 Offers PFAS-Free Water Repellency
ZELAN R3 is a non-fluorinated durable water repellent designed to protect textiles from water while maintaining breathability. According to Archroma and Nicca, the product contains 63% plant-based materials sourced from non-GMO, non-food feedstock.
The technology is designed to provide water repellency, durability and good processing performance across different fibre types. It also supports rain and stain protection for textile applications.
ZELAN R3 is bluesign certified and listed on the ZDHC Gateway with Conformance Level 3.1, according to the companies.
Partnership Supports Textile Industry Transition
The agreement maintains Archroma’s distribution and technical support role as textile brands increasingly consider PFAS-free water-repellent finishes.
For mills and brands, continued access to product expertise and technical support remains a key part of the arrangement. The companies said the partnership will help support customers across global markets.
The agreement combines Nicca’s ownership of the ZELAN business with Archroma’s established distribution network and experience in textile finishing solutions.
