David and Victoria Beckham’s living room offers inspiration for combining rich materials, soft colours and traditional architectural details. Their Holland Park townhouse in London features marble, olive-green velvet and cream timber, creating a balance between elegance and comfort.
Marble, Velvet and Timber Define the Look
The living room blends original Victorian features, including high ceilings and wall mouldings, with contemporary furniture. Marble adds a refined finish, while velvet seating introduces softness. Meanwhile, timber panelling brings warmth and depth to the interior.
These materials show how contrasting textures can create a layered living space. The combination also reflects growing interest in interiors that balance traditional details with modern design.
Wood Panelling Returns to Living Rooms
Wood panelling is gaining attention as homeowners explore ways to add character and warmth to their interiors. Chloe Barrow, head of creative interiors at Laura James, recommends pairing wooden panels with contemporary furniture to create a balanced look.
Panelling does not need to cover every wall. It can be used behind a sofa or around a fireplace to create a focal point. However, rooms with limited natural light may benefit from panelling on a single wall, supported by well-placed floor lamps.
A Balance of Colour and Texture
Olive-green velvet, cream timber and marble create visual contrast without overwhelming the room. Decorative accessories, including sculptural vases and cushions, can introduce additional texture.
The design offers practical ideas for homeowners seeking a timeless living room. By combining natural materials, classic architectural details and contemporary furniture, interiors can feel both inviting and carefully considered.
