Nantucket coastal home design combines ocean-inspired colours, natural materials and handcrafted furnishings in a Massachusetts residence designed by Stephanie Hall of Nantucket Looms.

Located on Nantucket Island, the home reflects the region’s coastal character through shades of blue, textured wallcoverings, woven accessories and locally sourced artwork. The interiors balance relaxed living with carefully selected decorative details.

Ocean-Inspired Colours Shape the Interiors

The living room features blue and blue-green accents inspired by the surrounding sea and sky. Sofas, modern wingback chairs and decorative objects create a comfortable setting. A sculptural chandelier made from handblown glass elements and knotted rope adds a subtle nautical reference.

The adjoining game room serves as a gathering space for the homeowners’ family. A white sectional sofa, oversized swivel chairs and handwoven blankets introduce comfort and colour. Red accents provide contrast against the lighter furnishings.

Natural Materials Add Warmth and Texture

The dining room combines blue upholstered chairs, rattan chandeliers and vintage decorative elements. Artwork from local artists also plays an important role in the design. Nantucket Looms represents more than 70 local artists, according to the source.

In the primary suite, textured wallpaper defines separate areas while maintaining visual continuity. Wicker lamps, rope-handled furniture, linen upholstery and a handwoven cashmere throw add layers of texture.

Artwork and Patterns Personalise Each Room

The dressing room features leaf-patterned wallpaper across its walls and ceiling. This approach adds visual interest to a space with limited natural light. An upholstered bench introduces another decorative element.

In the bedroom, white walls and neutral furniture allow colourful artwork to stand out. Navy accents, a linen bed and a wool rug complete the interior.

The project highlights how coastal interiors can combine local craftsmanship, natural textures and contemporary furnishings. Rather than relying on traditional nautical motifs, the design uses colour, art and handcrafted details to create a distinctive coastal home.
