Statement Flooring Trends 2027: Bold Colours and Patterns

Statement flooring is set to become a key interior design trend in 2027. Bold colours, geometric patterns and textured finishes are bringing new attention to floors. The trend moves beyond simple rugs and treats flooring as an important part of a room’s design.

According to Homes & Gardens, Kendall Jenner’s Beverly Hills art studio offers an example of this approach. Designed by Clements Design, the studio features matte tiles in cream, black and red. A white chaise lounge and tan curtains keep the rest of the space simple.

Bold Patterns and Colours

In 2027, homeowners are expected to explore more expressive flooring designs. Patterned tiles and colourful rugs can add character without changing the entire room. Traditional patterns, including plaid, tartan and botanical prints, are also expected to gain attention.

Lizzie Mosley, Creative Director at Hug Rug, said, “Pattern-maxxing has taken over from the minimalism and quiet luxury of recent years as homeowners look instead to take risks with bolder design choices that reflect their personality and personal style.”

Texture Becomes Important

Texture is another key element of the emerging flooring trend. Woodgrain finishes and stone-effect surfaces can add depth to interiors. Homeowners can also combine these finishes with linen curtains, woven rugs and textured upholstery.

Alex Heslop, Trend Expert at Flooring Superstore, said, “Instead of relying on a single statement surface to do all the work, this approach layers tactile finishes throughout a room, with flooring playing an important part in the overall scheme.”

Style Meets Practicality

Statement flooring can also offer practical benefits. Patterned surfaces may help make everyday marks and dirt less noticeable. However, homeowners still need to consider durability and maintenance, especially in high-traffic areas.

The growing focus on flooring reflects a wider shift towards personalised interiors. From bold tiles to patterned rugs, homeowners can use the floor to add colour, texture and character to their spaces in 2027.
