Dopamine decor trends are bringing vibrant colours, playful patterns and expressive furniture into modern interiors. Moving away from minimalist spaces, this design approach celebrates individuality through bold colour combinations, decorative lighting and contrasting textures.

A colourful apartment in St. Petersburg, Russia, designed by Maria Onuchina and Ivan Minyaev of OM Studio, showcases this growing interior design direction. The project combines contemporary styling with vintage influences and playful decorative elements.

Bold Colours Create a Playful Interior

The apartment features a mix of pink, green, blue and yellow tones. A pink Murano glass chandelier, green kitchen cabinets and a warm yellow ceiling create distinctive visual highlights.

The designers drew inspiration from 1980s Memphis and Italian postmodernism. They also incorporated contemporary elements, including bouclé upholstery, colourful posters and soft decorative textiles.

According to the designers, the aim was to combine different colours, textures and design periods while reflecting the owner’s personality.

Vintage Details Meet Contemporary Furniture

The interiors bring together antique furniture, decorative mirrors and modern accessories. Gold-framed baroque mirrors add a vintage touch, while contemporary furniture creates contrast.

In the living room, cream bouclé seating complements a pink textured rug and colourful lighting. Meanwhile, blue curtains and decorative accessories add further visual interest.

The bedroom features a striped canopy, blue checked bedding and contrasting colour accents. These elements demonstrate how patterns and textiles can transform a simple bedroom into a more expressive space.

Colourful Kitchens and Bathrooms Add Character

The playful design continues into the kitchen and bathroom. Green cabinetry, decorative lighting and contrasting finishes create a distinctive kitchen interior.

The bathroom combines coloured cabinets, white tiles and gold hardware. These details extend the apartment’s overall colour palette while maintaining a consistent design approach.

Dopamine Decor Encourages Individual Expression

The project highlights how dopamine decor trends are influencing contemporary home styling. Bold colours, vintage furniture, patterned textiles and statement accessories allow homeowners to create more personalised interiors.

For the home furnishing industry, this direction offers opportunities across decorative fabrics, cushions, rugs, bedding, lighting and furniture. The growing interest in expressive interiors also highlights the role of colour and texture in creating distinctive home environments.
