The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) successfully organized the Bharat Tex 2026 Round Table Discussion and Curtain Raiser at ITC Windsor, Bengaluru, bringing together leading international brands, buying houses and industry stakeholders to discuss the future of India’s textile and apparel sector.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman, AEPC, followed by a keynote address from Shri Naren Goenka, Chairman, Bharat Tex. Representatives from the Bharat Tex Federation also presented a detailed overview of Bharat Tex 2026, highlighting the scale, opportunities and key arrangements for the upcoming mega textile event scheduled to be held in New Delhi from July 14–17, 2026.

Leading Global Brands Participate

The round table attracted participation from nearly 40 leading international brands and buying houses, including major names such as Walmart, PVH Corp., Ralph Lauren, Marks & Spencer, C&A and Columbia Sportswear.

During the interactive discussions, participants shared valuable perspectives on several key industry priorities, including strengthening the textile value chain, sustainability initiatives, circularity, traceability and evolving compliance requirements. The dialogue focused on identifying industry challenges and exploring collaborative solutions to enhance India’s competitiveness in global sourcing markets.

Focus on Technology and Quality Enhancement

Addressing the gathering, Dr. A. Sakthivel emphasized the need to bridge technology and quality gaps within India’s textile and apparel industry.

He acknowledged existing challenges related to fabric quality and noted that short-term solutions may include strategic imports of specialized fabrics while simultaneously strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and supply chain efficiency.

The AEPC Chairman also highlighted the importance of incorporating global expertise into the Indian textile ecosystem. He proposed deeper collaboration with Taiwan’s textile industry to facilitate the adoption of advanced synthetic yarn manufacturing technologies and improve product competitiveness.

FTAs Create New Growth Opportunities

Dr. Sakthivel stressed that strengthening the industry is essential as India continues to expand its network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with major global economies.

According to him, these agreements have created significant opportunities for India to establish itself as a preferred global sourcing destination for apparel and textiles.

He described the coming decade as a defining period for the Indian apparel industry and urged stakeholders across the value chain to seize the opportunity. He also encouraged global buying houses to actively support India’s positioning as a reliable and competitive sourcing hub.

Industry Optimistic About India’s Potential

Echoing these sentiments, Bharat Tex Chairman Shri Naren Goenka said that the current global environment presents a unique opportunity for India’s textile and apparel sector.

He called upon the international sourcing community to extend greater support to Indian exporters and collaborate in making India one of the world’s most preferred sourcing destinations.

Building Momentum for Bharat Tex 2026

The round table concluded with a constructive exchange of ideas focused on enhancing industry participation and ensuring the success of Bharat Tex 2026.

Industry leaders agreed that stronger collaboration among manufacturers, exporters, brands, buying houses and policymakers will be critical to driving sustainable growth, improving supply chain resilience and increasing India’s share in global apparel trade.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Raju Goenka, Vice Chairman, AEPC, marking another important step in building momentum toward Bharat Tex 2026 and reinforcing India’s ambitions as a global textile and apparel powerhouse.
