New platform aims to streamline hiring across India’s textile and apparel industry

Apparel Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC), operating under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and National Skill Development Corporation, has launched a dedicated employment portal for the apparel, made-ups and home furnishing sector.

The portal, available through AMHSSC Job Portal, has been introduced to help address the gap between the availability of trained workers and the workforce requirements of apparel manufacturers, export houses and home furnishing companies across India.

According to the council, employers across different scales of operation can use the platform to post vacancies, access candidate profiles and recruit workers without intermediary involvement or additional fees. The initiative is intended to support more organised hiring practices in a sector where recruitment is still largely dependent on informal networks.

Apparel Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council stated that the platform is designed to provide a centralised and transparent recruitment system aimed at improving workforce deployment and employment accessibility.

The council has also invited skilled and semi-skilled workers to register on the portal, including certified machine operators, cutting and stitching professionals, quality assurance personnel, supervisors and trainees. Officials noted that a significant portion of the workforce remains outside formal hiring systems, affecting both employment access and talent visibility.

Ashish Srivastava said the portal has been developed to support a more structured employment ecosystem within the industry.

“The AMHSSC Job Portal is designed to address this systemic challenge by offering candidates a structured and completely cost-free platform through which they may present their qualifications, sector certifications, trade skills, and geographical preferences to a wide base of industry employers,” he said.

He also urged industry associations, training partners and sector stakeholders to support registrations and encourage wider participation in the formal employment system.
