AMHSSC Unveils Advanced Training Facility in Assam for Apparel Sector Growth

On May 30, 2024, the Apparel, Made-ups & Home Furnishings Sector Skill Council inaugurated its Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Guwahati, Assam, marking a momentous occasion for the Northeastern area. The fifth in the series, the CoE was formally opened by Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, demonstrating the government’s dedication to promoting entrepreneurship and skill development. Brig. R. K. Singh (Retd), Managing Director, North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation, and Dr. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, Principal Secretary, Government of Assam, were among the distinguished guests attending the inauguration ceremony.

The Chairman of the AMHSSC, Padma Shri Dr. A Sakthivel, conveyed his sincere appreciation and reiterated the Council’s commitment to supporting the government’s objective of advancing the expansion and competitiveness of Assam’s garment sector. Instilling inspiration and hope in the audience, he emphasised the Center’s crucial role in supporting the socio-economic development of the region. “The Centre of Excellence in Guwahati stands out with its cutting-edge apparel manufacturing technology, offering a truly immersive industry experience,”

“CoE is designed to serve as a hub for project work, internships, seminars, workshops, and upskilling programmes, ensuring that students and professionals remain at the forefront of the latest industry trends,” said Dr. Vijay Kumar Yadav, CEO, AMHSSC, providing a broader perspective on the Center’s impact.
