Ankur Jalan Urges RBI Repo Rate Pause for Real Estate

Mr. Ankur Jalan, CEO, Golden Growth Fund (GGF), has called for a pause in the RBI repo rate at this stage. GGF is a Category II Real Estate-focused Alternative Investment Fund (AIF).

Jalan said inflationary pressures and currency volatility need close monitoring. However, he noted that a repo rate hike could increase the cost of capital. This may affect investment decisions across the real estate ecosystem.

For Alternative Investment Funds, policy stability remains important for investment planning and project financing. It also supports better visibility on potential exits.

Jalan said institutional capital continues to show strong confidence in Indian real estate. In his view, a pause in the repo rate could help maintain this momentum.

He also said the RBI should allow more time to assess the persistence of imported inflation. This would help policymakers evaluate the impact before tightening monetary conditions.

The comments come as the real estate sector continues to monitor interest rates, capital costs and investment conditions.
