Bemberg™ and celebrated Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre have renewed their long-standing collaboration with the launch of “BREATH,” a ready-to-wear collection that brings together contemporary fashion, comfort and a shared commitment to environmental responsibility.
Featuring 18 key silhouettes, BREATH reflects a decade-long association between Bemberg™ and Anita Dongre, built around a common appreciation for craftsmanship, thoughtful design and conscious fashion. The collaboration also marks a significant milestone for Bemberg™, as the year commemorates 50 years of Bemberg™ exports to India.
“This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bemberg’s exports to India. We are delighted to collaborate with Anita Dongre, who shares many common philosophies regarding craftsmanship, in this momentous year.” — Takeshi Iitaka, Former General Manager of Bemberg Sales & Marketing Department 2, Asahi Kasei, Japan
Fashion Inspired by Nature

BREATH draws its visual and design inspiration from the natural world, translating its colours, movement and fluidity into feminine silhouettes. The collection explores a palette inspired by tropical greens, delicate ferns and rainforest trees, complemented by shades reminiscent of clear skies and deep oceans.
The collection features draped stoles, cascading lengths, translucent sarees, asymmetric necklines and fluid hems, creating silhouettes designed to move naturally with the wearer. The designs are developed with subtropical climates in mind, balancing elegance with ease and emphasizing lightweight comfort as an integral part of modern luxury.
Bemberg™ at the Heart of the Collection
At the core of BREATH is Bemberg™, a regenerated cellulose fiber known for its soft hand feel and comfort against the skin. The fiber’s properties complement the collection’s focus on lightweight, fluid fashion while supporting the designers’ broader vision of creating clothing with greater consideration for the environment.
According to the collaboration, Bemberg™ is biodegradable in soil and marine environments under certain conditions. Its biodegradability has been certified by a third-party testing organization.
By integrating Bemberg™ into the collection, BREATH positions material choice as an important part of the design story, connecting aesthetics and wearer comfort with environmental considerations.
A Decade of Shared Design Philosophy
Anita Dongre has worked with Bemberg™ for the past decade, selecting the fiber based on an alignment of values rather than short-term fashion trends. BREATH represents the continuation of this relationship, bringing the shared philosophy into a new collection.
“There’s a kind of joy that only comes from making something with care. Not just for the woman who will wear it, but for the soil it will one day return to. That’s the practice I keep coming back to.” — Anita Dongre
The collection reflects this approach through carefully considered silhouettes, natural inspirations and an emphasis on craftsmanship. With its combination of fluid design and material-conscious thinking, BREATH highlights the potential for fashion to combine beauty, comfort and environmental awareness.
Celebrating Craftsmanship and Conscious Fashion
The launch of BREATH comes at a meaningful point in the Bemberg™–Anita Dongre relationship, bringing together ten years of collaboration and five decades of Bemberg™’s presence in the Indian market.
Through its nature-inspired palette, fluid silhouettes and use of Bemberg™, the collection presents a vision of fashion where comfort and design can coexist with a more considered approach to materials. BREATH ultimately reflects the partners’ shared belief that thoughtful craftsmanship can contribute to a more responsible future for fashion.
