The discount store with its headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It declared in a filing dated September 9 that Nexus Capital Management has consented to buy the business’s assets and continuing operations. The agreed-upon purchase price is roughly $760 million, which includes the assumption of certain obligations, the debt payback amount, and $2.5 million in cash.
Big Lots is eliminating 344 of its least profitable locations as part of the process.
