November 12, 2024, Guangzhou, China — The Canton Fair Industry Trend Forum, which focused on home furnishings trends and market strategy exchange, was held recently at the 136th Canton Fair. Industry leaders discussed current trends in the home furnishing market, consumer needs, and future strategies for home living during the sharing session, which was co-organized by the World’s Global Style Network (WGSN) and released WGSN’s most recent “White Paper on Home Trends in 2025” and “White Paper on Future Consumers in 2026” reports.
2025 Home Trends unveils sustainable, tailored and intelligent lifestyle
The six STEPIC dimensions—society, technology, environment, politics, industry, and creativity—are applied in the “Home Trends in 2025” report. This thorough research sheds light on the factors influencing the market and potential opportunities for innovation. With sustainability, customization, and intelligence at its core, the report lays out a blueprint for the future of home living. These trends will not only influence how products and interior design are developed in the future, but they will also have a significant impact on how people interact with their surroundings, society, and culture.
The study offers a broad viewpoint to assist innovators and decision-makers in understanding emerging trends and incorporating them into design, ultimately producing goods and services that satisfy societal needs.
Ye Wenshi, a trend expert from WGSN, emphasized during the discussion that the sector would discover new prospects in material innovation and multifunctional design, which give product conceptions both practical and emotional significance.
2026 Future Consumer Trends sees growing complex consumer profiles
“Truth-seekers,” “autonomists,” “shimmers,” and “synergists” are among the many customer characteristics described in the “Future Consumer in 2026” research. These individuals tend to have more complicated emotions as society shifts from an information-driven to an imaginative period.
Another WGSN trend expert, Wu Anjing, highlighted the rising need for emotional resonance, authenticity, and customized experiences. To maintain client loyalty in line with changing consumer values, industry organizations will need to implement creative tactics such customized marketing and service.
Nancy Yamada, the Executive Director of Emerald Holding, Inc., also gave presentations at the forum. She examined the U.S. home furnishings market and emphasized trends such as the growing popularity of handcrafted, superior, and customized décor as well as multipurpose, space-saving furniture brought about by urbanization.
