Yibin Grace Opens China’s First Recycled Textile Pulp Facility, Accelerating Circular Fashion Innovation.

In a landmark move for the global textile industry, Yibin Grace has officially launched China’s first recycled textile dissolving pulp facility, signaling a new era in circular fashion and sustainable material production.

As one of the country’s leading producers of man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF) products such as viscose staple fibre, filament yarn, and lyocell, Yibin Grace’s new facility is purpose-built to address the growing demand for low-impact, circular materials in the fashion industry. Utilizing post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste sourced from supply chain partners, the facility is designed to produce high-quality, low-carbon dissolving pulp — a critical input for MMCF products.

With an initial capacity of 1,500 tonnes per year, the pilot facility is just the beginning. Yibin Grace plans to scale operations to 60,000 tonnes annually by 2027, directly supporting China’s national goal of reducing textile waste by 30% by the end of the decade.

“Canopy is thrilled with Yibin Grace’s leadership with the launch of China’s first Next Gen textile dissolving pulp mill,” said Nicole Rycroft, Founder and Executive Director of environmental nonprofit Canopy. “Expanding circular production positions the sector to withstand supply volatility and to meet the rising demand for low-impact materials.”

Yibin Grace is no stranger to innovation. It was among the first MMCF producers to integrate Circulose recycled pulp into its viscose lines under the ReGracell brand and has been collaborating with Canopy since 2018. The company was awarded a Dark Green Shirt in Canopy’s 2024 Hot Button Report, signifying a zero-risk rating for sourcing from Ancient and Endangered Forests.

The new dissolving pulp facility is expected to reduce the fashion industry’s dependence on high-carbon virgin forest fibers, making a powerful contribution to climate resilience, supply chain innovation, and environmental stewardship.

This development is a major step forward in scaling Next Gen materials and reinforcing the industry’s commitment to sustainable transformation.
