Chicago – According to market research firm Circana, table linens are growing in popularity due to a greater emphasis on domestic gatherings.
According to Circana, which recently published a report on American eating habits, the growing trend in home entertainment is a part of a broader cultural change toward social connection as Americans look for inexpensive ways to entertain close friends and family in their homes. More Americans than previous year intend to host or visit family and friends over the holidays, according to the company’s most recent Holiday Purchase Intentions study.
According to a release from Circana, “these categories are poised for growth when you combine this growing trend with the fact that many high-use entertaining products that were purchased early in the pandemic are hitting the replacement phase.”
The functionality of home textiles intended for dining areas highlights the demand of consumers for a well-curated entertaining environment. With tablecloths up 9% in unit sales, kitchen chair pads up 17%, and other table linens witnessing a significant 24% increase year over year, there is a greater demand for table linens, chair pads, and napkin sets.
Some categories are experiencing significant growth as consumers place a higher priority on enhancing their meetings. According to Circana, sales of divided dishes have increased by 12% and serveware sets have increased by 3% over the previous year.
Additionally, ice cream and yogurt companies’ unit sales have increased by 30% annually. According to Circana, the number of chocolate fountains has climbed by 21%, while the number of beer and cocktail manufacturers has increased by 4%.
