Accelerating India’s Transition to a Circular Economy
ReCircle is at the forefront of India’s shift toward a circular economy. Founded in 2016 by Rahul Nainani and Gurashish Singh Sahni, ReCircle is a clean-tech enterprise committed to diverting waste from landfills and oceans, empowering brands and consumers to recycle, reuse, and repurpose valuable resources.
With a network of 200+ collection partners and 20+ processing partners, we have successfully redirected over 169,000 MT of waste—equivalent to the weight of 28,166 elephants—across 300+ cities in India. Our work has also positively impacted the lives of 3,500+ Safai Saathis (waste workers), providing them with better opportunities and recognition.
Through key initiatives such as Plastic EPR Services, Plastic-Neutral Programs, Project Extra Life, and ClimaOne—a platform that enables real-time waste measurement and enhances compliance and transparency—we are making significant strides toward a sustainable future.
Union Budget 2025 Expectations
Rahul Nainani, CEO & Co-Founder, ReCircle
*”As India prepares for the 2025-26 Union Budget, there is a critical need for deeper investments in waste management to tackle the growing challenges of urbanization and waste generation. The budget should prioritize substantial funding for waste infrastructure, particularly in Tier 2 and 3 cities, while encouraging corporate participation through public-private partnerships.
By strengthening legislation on source segregation and fostering innovation in recycling technologies, the government can fast-track progress toward key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—ranging from clean water and sanitation to affordable clean energy. Existing initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and corporate sustainability commitments have already laid a strong foundation. However, now is the time for a transformational shift in India’s waste management ecosystem, positioning the country as a global leader in the circular economy.
At ReCircle, we are committed to playing an active role in this transformation, working alongside the government and industry stakeholders to drive meaningful and lasting impact.”*
