Ronse, BelguimDevan Chemicals is launching “Devan Sleep Tight,” an addition to their line of bio-based textile treatments.

The active ingredient, which was introduced at Heimtextil earlier this month, comes from an Australian tea tree oil by-product that has been upcycled. The technique enhances nocturnal benefits and skin regeneration through two complementing pathways: skin contact and inhalation.

How it work

Friction between the body and the cloth causes the 97% bio-based microcapsules on the textile to shatter. The volatile components of the active substances are then breathed concurrently with the release and absorption of the capsule content by the skin.

The technology increases the action of melatonin, decreases the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), promotes the expression of collagen genes, and increases the synthesis of antioxidant genes and proteins.

Products coming to market this spring

At Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Devan and a number of its partners showcased their Sleep Tight technology. They included Naturtex, a quilt and pillow manufacturer from Hungary, and Crispim Abreu Lda and Lameirinho, two Portuguese businesses that specialize in bed linen and sleepwear.

Products with Devan Sleep Tight are anticipated to hit the market by the second quarter of 2025, with the first productions already under progress.

According to Marleen Van der Auwera, head of Devan Chemicals’ Health & Wellness Division, “collaboration is at the heart of innovation.” “By collaborating closely with reputable industry leaders, we’re not just introducing a product; we’re developing a solution that raises the bar for textiles that promote sleep.”
