The Austrian Fiber Institute promotes fiber innovation and collaboration across the textile industry. Based in Vienna, Austria, the Institute organises the annual Dornbirn-GFC, an international platform for knowledge exchange and developments in fiber applications.
History and Mission of the Austrian Fiber Institute
Founded in 1960 by fiber producers and the Austrian textile industry, the Austrian Fiber Institute aims to support the market introduction of fibers and products made from them.
The Institute encourages the exchange of information and experience among producers, processors and users of fiber raw materials. Its scope includes textiles, nonwovens and other applications.
Dornbirn-GFC: A Platform for Global Exchange
The annual Dornbirn-GFC provides an international platform for professionals to share knowledge and discuss developments in fiber technology. It brings together stakeholders from across the fiber value chain.
The event supports communication between industry participants and encourages the exchange of technical information and practical experience.
Connecting Industry and Academia
The Austrian Fiber Institute also builds connections with technical schools, universities and associations that share its objectives. These relationships encourage cooperation between academic institutions and industry professionals.
Through these connections, the Institute supports knowledge sharing and the development of fiber applications across different sectors.
International Cooperation in the Fiber Industry
The Dornbirn-GFC operates in close coordination with CIRFS in Brussels, the umbrella organisation representing the European manufactured fiber industry.
This international cooperation strengthens links across the fiber sector and supports the exchange of information among industry stakeholders.
Through its activities and annual conference, the Austrian Fiber Institute continues to provide a platform for collaboration, research and developments in fiber technology.
