Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Private Limited (ELITe), the 50:50 joint venture between Ester Industries Limited and Loop Industries, has secured another significant commercial commitment for its upcoming textile-to-textile recycling facility in Gujarat.
Ester Industries Limited (BSE: 500136, NSE: ESTER) announced that its joint venture partner, Loop Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: LOOP), has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with a leading global sports and athletic brand for the supply of Loop™ PET Fiber Grade resin.
Under the proposed multi-year commercial framework, the global sports brand intends to offtake up to 15,000 metric tonnes of Loop™ resin annually. The resin is expected to be manufactured at the upcoming ELITe facility in India, which is scheduled to become operational in 2028.
Growing Interest from Global Sports Brands
The latest LOI represents another major commercial milestone for ELITe and follows the company’s earlier announcement of a commitment from global sportswear leader Nike.
With commitments from multiple marquee sports brands secured ahead of the facility’s commercial start-up, a substantial portion of the planned annual capacity is now covered by prospective offtake arrangements.
“We are pleased to share that our JV partner, Loop Industries, has secured interest from another premier global brand for the upcoming ELITe facility,” said Mr. Arvind Singhania, Chairman, Ester Industries Limited. “With Nike already on board as our anchor customer, this second commitment from a premier sports brand reaffirms the strong market demand for circular, textile-to-textile recycled polyester, and further validates ELITe’s strategic position in accelerating sustainable manufacturing globally.”
Mr. Daniel Solomita, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Loop Industries, said, “This agreement is a strong validation of our technology’s ability to deliver virgin-quality, sustainable resin at commercial scale. As we move ELITe towards operations in 2028, growing interest from marquee global brands reinforces the demand we’re seeing for infinitely recyclable PET, and strengthens the long-term commercial case for this facility.”
Textile Waste to Virgin-Quality PET Resin
The ELITe facility will employ Loop Industries’ proprietary depolymerization technology to process 100% polyester textile waste streams. The technology is designed to convert polyester waste into virgin-quality monomers, including dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and monoethylene glycol (MEG), which will subsequently be polymerized into polyester resin.
The resulting resin is intended to provide a circular alternative to conventional virgin fossil fuel-based polyester and serve global apparel, textile and packaging applications.
According to the companies, initial resin testing and feedstock validation activities have already generated positive preliminary results. These developments are expected to support the qualification of materials and the integration of long-term supply chains with global brand partners.
ELITe Facility Progresses Towards 2028 Operations
The upcoming manufacturing facility will be located at Nandida, Vagra, Bharuch, Gujarat, and is expected to become operational in 2028. The project is being developed to manufacture Twist™ and Loop™ branded virgin-quality PET resin from polyester waste.
ELITe said land acquisition for the facility is expected to be completed within the next two to three months. Following the completion of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) by Tata Consulting Engineers, the company has awarded the detailed engineering contract to Toyo Engineering India Private Limited.
The development is aimed at supporting the transition towards circular textile manufacturing while reducing dependence on virgin fossil fuel-based polyester and enabling lower-carbon supply chains.
Building India’s Circular Polyester Capacity
ELITe is a 50:50 joint venture between Ester Industries and Loop Industries established to build and operate an Infinite Loop™ manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
The facility is positioned to serve global packaging and apparel brands with certified, traceable and infinitely recyclable circular polyester. The latest LOI further strengthens the commercial pipeline for the project and reflects growing interest among global sportswear companies in recycled materials that can support textile-to-textile circularity.
For Ester Industries, the development also expands its participation in advanced recycled polyester and specialty materials, building on its established manufacturing presence in polyester films, specialty polymers and recycled PET.
