Over the course of the last 20 years, our mutual trade with the African continent has increased dramatically—it reached $31.7 billion in 2023 and is expected to continue rising through 2024. Bilateral trade volumes reached $13.6 billion from January to May of 2024, up 9.6% over the same period the previous year (Data from the Turkish Ministry of Trade).
We are conducting Export Gateway to Africa & Summit from October 31 to November 2, 2024, at Istanbul Pullman Hotel & Convention Center, in cooperation with official representatives from African nations.
Negotiations are under progress to obtain involvement from official organizations that represent the 54 African nations that are of great significance to Turkiye. To invite hosted buyers from these nations to the Export Gateway to Africa & Summit in Istanbul from October 31 to November 2, 2024, negotiations are already underway. Kenya, Benin, Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal, Egypt, and Sudan have already reached agreements. Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and the Seychelles are among the hosted buyers who have already purchased their tickets and made their reservations.
