Important Information About Tunisia;

  • Located in the middle of North Africa and the Mediterranean, with a population of approximately 11 million , Tunisia is a developing country that attaches importance to stability with its policy of establishing good and trouble-free relations with its neighbors, regional countries and the West.
  • Industrial products rank first in our exports to Tunisia, a founding member of the World Trade Organization.
  • There are around 10,000 engineers in various branches in Tunisia. Tunisia, which is a good supplier for Europe in clothing manufacturing, is in an advantageous position in terms of investment in this sector due to its advantage in production costs, proximity to Europe, ease of supply of qualified personnel, political determination, tax advantages and low labor costs.
  • Due to the lack of yarn and fabric production in the country, there are investment opportunities especially in these areas.
  • The textile and clothing sector accounts for more than a quarter of Tunisia’s total exports
  • The share of consumer goods in Tunisia’s imports is high at around 30% , which is an indication that the country is not self-sufficient in terms of industry. Imports of raw materials and semi-finished products consist of textile raw materials, primarily cotton and fabric, industrial tools and machinery .
  • The EU is Tunisia’s largest export market , and Tunisia is one of the EU’s main suppliers of ready-made clothing and apparel products. The country’s exports in these sectors are approximately 90% of them are made to EU countries .
  • The EU countries with which it has the most intensive commercial and economic relations are France, Italy and Germany . As of January 1, 2008 , a free trade area has been established between Tunisia and the EU.
  • The countries with which Tunisia has a Free Trade Agreement are Turkey, EU, EFTA, Libya, Agadir (Egypt, Morocco and Jordan), Mauritania .
  • According to World Investment Report data, direct foreign investment in Tunisia has reached 31.3 billion US dollars. According to data from the Tunisian Foreign Investment Agency (FIPA), 3,135 foreign companies operate in Tunisia.
