Exhibition of Handlooms in Coimbatore | Home Fashion

Kalpana Kalyana Mandapam in Coimbatore city is hosting a 60-stall handloom show till January 10.

According to a news statement from the district administration, up to 113 handloom weavers’ associations in the state are represented in the exhibition, which was opened by Ministers V. Senthil Balaji and R. Gandhi. The handwoven goods at the expos in Tiruchi, Salem, Tiruppur, and Coimbatore are valued at ₹5 crore, with a sales objective of ₹3.5 crore in Coimbatore.

Products on show include carpets, home textiles, textile fabrics, silk dhoties, and sarees made of cotton and silk.

According to the press release, the State’s handloom cooperative societies made ₹1,091.93 crores worth of items and sold ₹1,242.99 crores in sales during the previous fiscal year. In 2023–2024, state-level handloom shows took place in Salem and Coimbatore, with sales totaling ₹6.56 crores.

Five weavers obtained pension orders, three weavers received welfare support, and ten weavers received assistance for loom accessories during a recent event held here to kick off the expo. According to the Ministers at the event, a handloom silk park with space for 5,000 weavers will be built near Arani for ₹44 crore on 2,053 acres.
