Global print association reports emissions reductions and expands sustainability initiatives in 2026
FESPA has reaffirmed its sustainability commitment in 2026 by achieving ISO 20121:2024 certification for sustainable event management and reporting measurable reductions in CO₂e emissions across its global events.
The organisation confirmed that the latest certification follows its earlier ISO 20121:2012 accreditation in 2025, reflecting continued progress in improving environmental performance across exhibitions and operations.
FESPA stated that it recorded year-on-year emissions reductions between its 2024 and 2025 events as part of its broader sustainability framework under the FESPA Future strategy, which focuses on connecting, inspiring and supporting the global print community.
The association continues to provide sustainability resources through its Sustainability Spotlight platform, including guidance on carbon calculation, certification schemes and sustainability terminology. In 2026, it also introduced a guide titled “Understanding and Avoiding Greenwash” to help businesses improve transparency in sustainability communication.
Graeme Richardson-Locke said:
“We recognise the importance of helping businesses in our community to adapt as expectations and regulations around sustainability change. Our role is not only to reduce our own impact, but also to provide practical guidance for the wider speciality print industry and its related sectors.”
FESPA also operates the FESPA Foundation, which focuses on community development projects under the “Print For Good” initiative. Since March 2025, the foundation has supported schools in South Africa and Brazil through donated educational materials, infrastructure improvements and financial assistance.
The organisation also runs youth engagement programmes aimed at introducing young people to careers in print, signage and visual communication, supported through its global association network.
Neil Felton said:
“We are proud of the progress we have made, but we also recognise there is more to do. Our ambition is to continue leading by example while supporting members of our community as they navigate regulatory changes, and transition to more responsible print and production.”
